Event location synopsis:
The odds of obtaining space at GT are 75%. However, we should probably move
the date to the 21st. Clearly, hosting the event on the weekend prior to
exams should be avoided.
My sense regarding LUGatGT's response to hosting the Install Fest is this:
Asterisk is slightly too tangential to Linux for the event to receive
immediate support. In addition, the scope of the project might seem
daunting. I am confident that perceptions there may be changed with a bit
more relationship building. It will be interesting to learning what Steve
hears from gtisc-info at cc.gatech.edu.
The odds of obtaining space at Emory are 50 / 50. Emory is on Spring Break
until the 16th; we might not hear back from Emory before that date. Emory's
exam period is from May 3 - 9, maybe the 21st would be a better date in this
instance as well.
Emory School of Law has not responded to inquiries there, which is unusual
as the good folks at Emory are unfailingly courteous -- I fear that a spam
filter intercepted my inquiries there. I am pursuing other avenues.
At this point in time, confirming any location would be good., and
contacting "Quality Services" about hosting the event would be in our best
interest. I'll contact Michael from ALE NE seeking suggestions.
Incidentally -- the Asterisk Install Fest idea was received well at ALE
Central's last meeting.
Thanks,
Preston
