Guys,
Nice meeting last night. I want to get my hardware ready for an
eventual install day. I might even have it installed before.
My goal is to create a server that will take a POTs line from Bell
South. I will connect to the line via SIP. I assume that to do this at
minimum I need a PCI board and an ATA. Can I get some recommendations
on what to buy?
As far as base OS I plan on use Fedora Core 6. I need to learn how to
install * so doing it from a base is better for me than using a specific
distribution.
Eventually I plan on putting the same setup on an embedded box that has
roughly 128m of memory and 64m of flash. I'll build that box up from
the base starting with a Linux kernel and I'll add everything I need to
keep it small and fast. I've been doing embedded linux for many years
now so I think I can get the guts into a small system with ease. I
might have to upgrade the flash to 128 and my vendor can do that for me.
My only objection to doing that is that it increases the foot print of
the software. Bigger foot print larger flash, etc. The idea is to keep
it small and fast.
Chris
