We want to read in a file don't worry about it too much as it will come from several one of several sources. It will be text. It will have approximately 50 key values that need to parsed ( I am thinking a separate config file for this part) then those key values will be a delimited length, say for instance see then that 1 I want to get the "then that 1" value and then that 2 I want to get "than that 2" these values are about 50 so there will be 50 values all together. The output file will be a text file that reads then that 1 then that 2 then that 'X" whatever that X is. This will iterate on several input files each output file will have a unique Identifier IE: "output parse1" "output parse2" So basically we need a hash table, that reads in a file and parses the value out and writes it in a specified format. I am thinking maybe 3 or 4 configuration files that are tied together. I need it for tomorrow *smile* Bill Learning Verso Technologies 400 Galleria Parkway Fax, findme, direct, office, home, cell, followme, 24/7 number 678 589 3669 Ask me about a one number solution, Never underestimate yourself, for even the simplest of vessels can travel the greatest of seas. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... My goal is to create a PBX that plugs into the POTs line from Bell South or my VOIP ATA (Packet8.net) and have an ATA that can use that line. Based on those requirements I believe at minimum I need the following items 1. PC (Duh) 2. Wildcard XP100? 3. Generic SIP compatible ATA. I want to get my hardware ready for an eventual install day. I might even have it installed before. My goal is to create a server that will take a POTs line from Bell South. I will connect to the line via SIP. I assume that to do this at minimum I need a PCI board and an ATA. Can I get some recommendations on what to buy? As far as base OS I plan on use Fedora Core 6. I need to learn how to install * so doing it from a base is better for me than using a specific distribution. Eventually I plan on putting the same setup on an embedded box that has roughly 128m of memory and 64m of flash. I'll build that box up from the base starting with a Linux kernel and I'll add everything I need to keep it small and fast. I've been doing embedded linux for many years now so I think I can get the guts into a small system with ease. I might have to upgrade the flash to 128 and my vendor can do that for me. My only objection to doing that is that it increases the foot print of the software. Bigger foot print larger flash, etc. The idea is to keep it small and fast. The system works great. I used a Sipura 3000 for my POTs connection as the box is nearly as small as the Digium PCI board that I have used in another system. How do you do updates? You treat it like a regular file system like a standard install of Linux? Basically when I do mine I start with a kernel and glibc. I then add components as needed and write replacement pieces. Of course I'm not building a one off. I tend to write this for install base of 1000's. I look at it like I would a Cisco router. I take their embedded ideas and apply those to my own device but I use Linux. For example /etc/passwd does not exist in my box. /etc is not really used :). Config is one flash and in shared memory, etc.
