Funambol’s open source mobile application server is based on the Open
Mobile Alliance Data Synchronization and Device Management standard (OMA
DS/DM, popularly known as SyncML), that is supported by more than 75% of
new mobile handsets. Funambol provides mobile push email, PIM
synchronization and device management software that allows developers in
carriers, enterprises and ISVs/ASPs to synchronize, provision and manage
mobile devices. Funambol’s mobile application server is flexible and
open, allowing the company and community to offer implementations of
other leading synchronization and management protocols for the wireless
market.

AllFreeCalls
<http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/01/29/allfreecalls-unsurprisingly-successful/>
has been taken offline after a flurry of legal action

pissed off AT&T.

installation a breeze.

NOTES FROM LAST MEETING...

AAUG Meeting 1/30/07

Last Tuesday of the month will be the regular meeting date at Noble Systems

Jim Noble introduced himself and discussed Asterisk with the attendees

Kris now recommends EasyVoxBox....

http://easyvoxbox.org/

Trixbox 1.2.3 is the last really stable release of the Trixbox project.

http://nerdvittles.com/index.php?p=164

We’ve gotten literally hundreds of emails asking the same two questions:
when do we plan to switch to TrixBox 2.0 and how about upgrading to
Asterisk 1.4? Our answer is always the same to both questions: /not
anytime soon/. Why? Because there is almost nothing that can’t already
be done with TrixBox 1.2.3. It’s 99% reliable, at least once you
/NerdVittlize It/ using our upgrade script
<http://nerdvittles.com/index.php?p=153>. So what do these upgrades buy
you other than another version number? Who knows? We’d suggest you do a
lot of reading before making the leap. Start with Chris Sherwood’s Guide
<http://www.sureteq.com/asterisk/trixboxv2.0.htm> and see if there’s
some new feature you really can’t live without. And then check out the
TrixBox Help Forum
<http://www.trixbox.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=2> to
determine if you can deal with the reported problems.

Many attendees were having problems with Trixbox 2.0

Does 1.4 include a working T.38 implementation?

FAX over VoIP, and FAX over IP (FoIP)

Work is in progress on an implementation of *T.38*, the real-time FAX
over IP protocol. A number of questions raised about FoIP has prompted
these notes <http://www.soft-switch.org/foip.html> on the subject.

Some initial documentation on the *T.38* gateway, and termination
software can be found here <http://www.soft-switch.org/t38/index.html>.
The latest development version of *spandsp* (the 0.0.3xxx series)
contain work in progress support for *T.38*.
