Greetings from sunny Birmingham. I joined this list at the
suggestion of someone on the Birmingham Area Linux Users mailing list
and hope to both be a help to others on the list and a sponge to soak
up all of your knowledge :D
ok, so, the reason I joined the list at this point in time was to ask
a real question. We're rolling out asterisk at our small business to
take over for a Bellsouth hosted voicemail box, so that we can each
have our on voicemail boxes. Our setup is 2 Linksys SPA3102 ATAs,
which have 1FXS/1FXO each. We have two analog lines coming into
those, and asterisk is answering all calls that come in and providing
a small IVR tree. We are connecting these to a two line cordless
phone system, which is our existing setup. When a call comes in, they
choose a dept, which right now just rings all phones.
Here's my dilemma. Right now when I want to ring all the phones, I'm
ringing SIP/phone1 and SIP/phone2 which translate to lines 1 and 2 on
the cordless phone system and some other SIP channels which translate
to softphones running on a couple laptops. The downside to this is
that one call rings both lines on the analog phones. This is how I'd
like it to work:
User chooses extension to call
Ring SIP/phone1 + all other SIP phones if SIP/phone1 is avail
otherwise
Ring SIP/phone2 + all other SIP phones
One thing I want to also avoid, however, is having the first diaplan
ring all the softphones but not SIP/phone1, and not ring SIP/phone2
until the first one times out.
I know chanisavail won't really work since these are SIP channels
(I've tried), so I'm hoping someone has a solution for this, and
hopefully I've communicated my problem well :)
Thanks,
Joseph
